HMRC Bailiffs

HMRC Bailiffs don’t exist any more. They may look like HMRC Bailiffs and sound like HMRC Bailiffs but they are not.

They now have different powers and can frighten you even more. Bailiffs are now called Enforcement Agents.

A Warrant of Execution has also been replaced by a warrant of control.

One of the oldest laws in England, dated 1267, relates to stopping Bailiffs taking too much property.

If the Enforcement Agents ask a Judge first then they can break into your property and take your goods away immediately.

If you are nice to them then they may give you time to pay but they could lock away your goods or clamp your vehicles.

The old HMRC Bailiff has not really gone – he just wears a different cloak.

So be careful where you park your bike!
